Happy Birthday, Canada!

Mon Jun 29, 2009, 7:55 PM
So what if I'm a day and a bit early! In what other country does is there a scaled down version of the parliament buildings lived in by cats?

Or comic artists like Kate Beaton!

...Okay, so there are many not so great things about it too, but all in all it's pretty swell and I'm totally making this post because I don't have the time to draw it a proper birthday card. Also next week is my birthday and I'm pretty excited in general. (Also again, I should probably mention it's my twin's birthday, so I can't take all the credit.)

Over and out!

Hiya,

I've been trawling for a tutorial on how to draw tauren. I'm using them as a reference for a race based heavily on them. You have some stunning artwork, I was wondering if you could recommend any resources, particularly in terms of the skull and facial structure.
Hi there,

Other than the obvious pictures of cows, buffalo, deer, etc, your best bet might be to check out the other WoW artists here on DeviantArt (who are fantastic and many of whom have galleries devoted to them) or the fanart communities on LiveJournal.

Other than that, the character design blog ([link]) is never a bad bet, though it doesn't any anything specifically pertaining to tauren.

Hope that helps a bit!
Thanks for that. I can draw a tauren without too much trouble, it's drawing a specific character that's causing me problems. Most of the more realistic styles go for the more grotesque facial structure that isn't really all that expressive beyond rage. The more cartoony styles don't give me much either because I'm trying to get a more realistic look. The goal is to create a character with features that maintain an animistic look, and highlight the alien nature of his features, but to allow a wide range of expressions without drifting too far into human looking territory.
It sounds like you have a good bit of drawing and experimentation in your future. : ) Good luck finding the perfect blend of the two!
Thanks! I've managed to get roughly the spirit of the character now. I'm shifting to drawing him and a human character in every random action I can think of. I'm thinking I'll try ballet at some stage, and possibly moonwalking. ^_^ thanks for your help.
Hai! I've seen some pictures from your gallery! your gallery is unique and creative, I think, I like it so much!

I need to tell you.
You draw the best taurens I have ever seen. I just love the way you understand their anatomy, not to mention that their characterization is amazing, as well!

Blah blah blah.
Thanks very much! I'm delayed as always, but cheers!
